چکیده
Abstract Labeling in diffusion measurements by pulsed field gradient (PFG) NMR is based on the observation of phase nuclear spins acquired a constant magnetic with purposefully superimposed gradients. This labeling does no way affect microdynamics and provides information about probability distribution molecular displacements as function time. An introduction measuring principle followed detailed description ranges their limitation. Particular emphasis given to an explanation possible pitfalls ways circumvent them. Showcases presented for illustrating wealth provided PFG include survey various patterns concentration dependence intra-particle examples transport inhibition additional resistances within nanoporous particles external surface. The latter attained combination outcome tracer exchange experiments, which are shown become via special formalism data analysis. Further evidence concerns enhancement pore hierarchies, anisotropy impact chemical conversion porous catalysts. A compilation specifics parallels other measurement techniques concludes paper.

Boundary effects of molecular diffusion in nanoporous materials: a pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance study.
The boundary conditions of intraparticle diffusion in nanoporous materials may be chosen to approach the limiting cases of either absorbing or reflecting boundaries, depending on the host-guest system under study and the temperature of measurement. Pulsed field gradient nuclear magnetic resonance is applied to monitor molecular diffusion of n-hexane and of an n-hexane-tetrafluoromethane mixture...
متن کاملLithium diffusion in lithium nitride by pulsed-field gradient NMR.
Lithium self-diffusion coefficients are measured for the first time using (7)Li Pulsed-Field Gradient Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (PFG-NMR) in a crystalline inorganic powder of α-Li(3)N between 534 K and 774 K. The diffusion of lithium cations is anisotropic, and the activation energy for the diffusion within the Li(2)N layers was found to be 0.150 ± 0.009 eV.
متن کاملThe Measurement of Diffusion Using Pulsed Nmr
Pulsed NMR is the most convenient and powerful technique for measuring diffusion, when it is applicable. Hahn (1) in a seminal paper laid the foundations of the technique. He showed that for a nuclear spin system that obeyed the Bloch equations (taking small liberties with exact details), a 9O.y T 180, RF pulse sequence produced a free induction decay (FID) and an echo, as pictured in Figure 1....
متن کاملSelf-diffusion of polymers in cartilage as studied by pulsed field gradient NMR.
Pulsed field gradient (PFG) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was used to investigate the self-diffusion behaviour of polymers in cartilage. Polyethylene glycol and dextran with different molecular weights and in different concentrations were used as model compounds to mimic the diffusion behaviour of metabolites of cartilage. The polymer self-diffusion depends extremely on the observation time:...

Proton pulsed field gradient (PFG) NMR was used to study the diffusion of poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDADMAC) in coacervates formed from this polycation and the protein bovine serum albumin (BSA). Application of high (up to 30 T/m) magnetic field gradients in PFG NMR measurements allowed probing the diffusion of PDADMAC on a length scale of displacements as small as 100 nm in coace...
